2009 Plaza Classic Film Festival
The stars won’t just be on the Plaza’s screen (or ceiling). Rub shoulders with filmmakers, actors and scholars during this year’s film festival.
Enjoy some of this year’s film offerings and get the inside scoop on the making of some of our biggest Classics. This year’s festival will host a number of special guests, among them:
- Actor Michael York (Cabaret) and his wife Pat (Fame to Frame).
- Film Historian and Journalist Nick Clooney (George’s father and Rosemary’s brother)
- Production Manager C. O. “Doc” Erickson (Vertigo, Chinatown, Rear Window, Cleopatra)
- El Paso native Charlie Palafox (associate of James Cameron)
- Bart Weiss (founder and director of the Dallas Video Festival)
In addition to their presence and introductions to several festival films,
several of our guests will take part in the following limited-seating special events:
American Movie Classic: A Conversation with Nick Clooney, Friday, August 7 at 4:30pm. Mr. Clooney is a journalist, author and former host of American Movie Classics. We’ll be discussing favorite festival films, stars, directors and the place of the cinema in American culture (and perhaps get an update on Mr. Clooney’s son, George).
From Vertigo to Hitchcock: A Conversation with C.O. Doc Erickson, Saturday, August 8 at 4pm in the Philanthropy Theatre. Mr. Erickson will discuss his 50 year career in Hollywood and his work on some of the most important films of the last half century.
Fame & Frame: A Presentation by Pat York. Ms. York will discuss her many decades as a photographer and will have a book-signing for her new book: Fame & Frame. This presentation will be Saturday, August 15 at 4pm in the philanthropy Theatre. Books will be available for sale at the event. Tickets available from Ticketmaster and the Plaza Box Office.
Fundraising Reception with Michael York, Saturday, August 15, immediately following the screening of Cabaret. Come join us for a special outdoor reception on the Plaza’s Alcantar Sky Garden with special guest Michael York. This is a special festival fund-raising event and reservations are limited.
